Lek Ladki Yojana: In India, there are many girl child welfare schemes run by the Union government and the government of states. Leh Ladki Yojna is one of them run by the Maharashtra government. Under the welfare scheme government provides Rs 1,01,000 to daughters born in poor families.
The 'Majhi Kanya Bhagyashree' scheme, which was already in existence in Maharashtra has also been merged with the scheme. Under the LeK Ladki Yojna, Since the birth of a girl child, financial assistance will be given in several phases till she turns 18 years old. As per the government, the objective of the scheme is to increase the birth rate of girls.
LeK Ladki Scheme
At the time of birth, the girl's family will be given Rs 5,000. Then, when the daughter enters to first class for study, the family will be given Rs 6,000. Then, her family would be given Rs 7000 when she is admitted to class 6.
Next, when the daughter will be entering into class 11th, she will get Rs 8000. When the daughter becomes an adult i.e. 18 years, then Rs 75,000 will be given to the family. if we calculate the total benefits, it is Rs 1,01,000.
The government would discontinue the Majhi Kanya Bhagya Shree Yojana in the state and LEk Ladki Yojana will be commenced.
Eligibility for LeK Ladki Yojna
The daughters of poor families will be eligible to avail the benefits of the government scheme. Families, having yellow or orange ration cards and whose annual income does not exceed Rs 10,000 will be eligible for the scheme.
The benefit of the scheme will be available to daughters born after April 1, 2023. If a twin daughter is born in someone's house, then both daughters will get the benefit. If someone has a son and a daughter, only the daughter will get the benefit.
