Pakistan's Stock Market: Amid rising tension between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, investor sentiment was shaken by fears of possible Indian military retaliation, which caused a massive crash on Wednesday on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX). During intraday trading, the benchmark KSE-100 index fell more than 3,000 points, sending the market into a panic.
The KSE-100 index fell 1,717.35 points, or 1.5%, in early trading hours, reaching 113,154.83 points. The sell-off grew more severe as the session went on, and the index fell another 3,255.42 points, or 2.83%, from the previous close. Investors' growing concerns about the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan are reflected in this sharp decline.

Massive Sell-off amid India-Pakistan Rift
The precipitous drop is ascribed to concerns about potential military action from India. These worries intensified after Pakistan's Information Minister told reporters that India might respond militarily in the next 24 to 36 hours. Market participants became alarmed by this statement, which caused significant selling and capital flight from the PSX.
Indian Stock Market Today
Indian markets, meanwhile, held steady. The NSE Nifty fell just 1.75 points to close at 24,334.20 on Wednesday, while the BSE Sensex ended the day marginally lower by 46.14 points at 80,242.24. In honour of Maharashtra Day, the Indian stock markets will be closed on Thursday.
Following a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam last week that left 26 people dead, tensions increased. India has responded by taking drastic measures, such as closing the Attari land transit point, suspending the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, and revoking visas granted to Pakistani nationals as of April 27.
Market volatility in Pakistan is anticipated to persist until the situation stabilises due to the impending geopolitical uncertainty.
