NSE Holidays 2025: If you trade or invest in the stock market, then you need to know that on Thursday, May 1, 2025, the trading activities in the domestic stock markets will not be open. On this day, there will be no trading activity in the equity, equity derivatives, currency derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) segments, per the official holiday calendars of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
In Mumbai, India's financial hub, the markets are closing in observance of Maharashtra Day, a state holiday celebrated with parades, official functions, and cultural events. Notably, the significance of the public holiday is increased by the fact that May 1st also happens to be Labour Day.
Trading Will Resume On May 2?
On Friday, May 2, trading will resume following the midweek break. But on Saturday and Sunday (May 3–4), there will be the usual weekend closure. On Monday, May 5, regular market operations will resume.
