- SBI UPI services unavailable Sept 4, 2026, for 45 minutes.
- Maintenance affects GPay, PhonePe, and YONO UPI-linked accounts.
- Customers advised to use UPI Lite for seamless digital payments.
People who use UPI services through SBI will face service disruption on September 4, 2026, due to scheduled maintenance, India’s largest public sector bank has informed. As per the official statement, the online payment service through Unified Payment Interface will temporarily be unavailable from 00:15 hrs to 1:PM–45 minites to be precise–on Friday.
“Due to scheduled maintenance activity, SBI UPI services will be temporarily unavailable from 00:15 hrs to 01:00 hrs on 04.09.2026 (IST). The activity may, however, be completed early,” SBI said in a post on X.
This means GPay, PhonePe or other UPI IDs made through SBI accounts will not be able to do transactions during the 45 minutes of scheduled maintenance time. UPI through SBI’s YONO App will also be affected. However, UPI Lite services will not be impacted during the period.
“Customers may continue to use UPI Lite Services for uninterrupted service. We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers,” SBI said.
Who Will Be Affected And Who Will Not
- Customers who make UPI payments through GPay, PhonePe or other Apps liked to SBI accounts.
- UPI through the YONO app may face issues.
- UPI Lite service will not be affected during the maintenance period. Customers can continue seamless digital transactions during this downtime through UPI Lite.

UPI Cash Withdrawal Charges New Rules
Earlier last month, State Bank of India announced a revision of its cash withdrawal charges for basic bank deposit accounts opened through the branch channel. The revision, which proposes a charge of Rs 15 + GST beyond four withdrawal transactions in a month, will come into effect from October 1, 2026. However, four cash withdrawals within a month will continue to be free.

Meanwhile, all digital transactions will remain free of charges without any restrictions.
