Stock Market Today: Domestic benchmark stock indices Sensex and Nifty rose nearly 2 per cent on Tuesday as Asian stock markets rebounded after US President Donald Trump delayed tariffs on Mexico and Canada by a month.
The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 1,397.07 points, or 1.81 per cent, to a one-month high of 78,583.81. The day rose 1,471.85 points, or 1.90 per cent, to 78,658.59. The NSE Nifty rose 378.20 points, or 1.62 per cent, to 23,739.25, its lowest level since January
Larsen & Toubro rallied about 5 per cent from a blue chip pack of 30 shares. Adani Ports, Tata Motors, Reliance Industries, IndusInd Bank, Ultratech Cement and Asian Paints were also major gainers.
Markets like ITC Hotels, Nestlé, Zomato, and Maruti suffered losses.
Tokyo, Seoul, and Hong Kong have seen significant growth in the Asian market.
European markets suffered the biggest losses. US markets closed negative on Monday. Brent crude, the global benchmark, fell 1.05 per cent to $75.16 a barrel.
Foreign institutional investors offloaded equity worth Rs 3,958.37 crore on Monday, according to exchange data. The BSE bellwether index Sensex fell 319.22 points, or 0.41 per cent, to 77,186.74 on Monday, ending a five-day rally. The Nifty fell 121.10 points, or 0.52 per cent, to close at 23,361.05.
