Stock Market: Usually, the stock markets remain closed on Saturday and Sunday, next Saturday Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) are going to remain open.
Both the exchanges are switching to disaster recovery sites for a day trial. The testing of the disaster site is being done so that trading can continue even if the primary site crashes due to some technical glitch. Exchanges will organise a special session on January 20.
As per the details, on January 20, BSE and NSE will work in two small sessions. The first special live session will be on the primary site. In this session, the pre-open session of both BSE and NSE will start at 9 am. Subsequently, the general market will open at 9:15 am and close at 10 am.
The second live session will be at the disaster recovery site. Under the session, the pre-opening session at the disaster recovery site will start at 11:15 am. Subsequently, normal market operations will start at 11:23 am. The session will end at 12:50 pm and the market closing bell will be heard at 1 pm. In the Futures and Options segment, the market will open at 9:15 am and close at 10 am on the primary site. Whereas, it will open at 11:30 am and close at 12:30 pm on the disaster recovery website.
Securities price bands
Both BSE and NSE have said that the maximum price band for all securities including derivative products will be 5 percent. Securities already in the 2 per cent or less price band will retain their respective bands.
