Budget 2024: The union government will present the interim budget on February 01 ahead of general elections. In such a situation, there are expectations that some big announcements can be made by the finance minister in a budget speech.
According to a report on CNBC TV18, the government is considering increasing the insurance coverage under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme. the report says the government may increase the existing cover amount by 50 per cent to 7.5 lahks. It is expected that this can be formally announced by the government in the interim budget. However, there is no confirmation from the government side.
The Ayushman Bharat scheme was launched on 23 September 2018 under the National Health Policy 2017. This is the world's largest health insurance scheme. At present, Ayushman cards have been issued to 25.21 crore people. It is expected that in the coming time, this number will cross 30 crores.
Under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, poor and Marginal families get a health insurance cover of 5 Lakh rupees yearly. 5.68 crore hospitals have also been registered under this scheme.
Earlier, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman denied any populist announcement in the budget. But, speculations are there that the government may make some big announcements in the interim budget before the 2024 general election.
