Vistara Airlines-Air India Merger: The long-awaited merger of Vistara and Air India is now scheduled to be finalized on November 12. Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced on Friday that it had received Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) approval from the Indian government.
No Vistara Flight Ticket After November 12
With the new development, beginning on September 3, 2024, travelers will not be able to book flight tickets in Vistara Airline for travel on or after November 12, 2024. Post the date all Vistara flights will be operated under the Air India brand. However, Vistara will continue to operate regular flights until November 11, 2024.
Vinod Kannan, the CEO of Vistara, emphasized that the merger will give customers more options, a larger fleet, and an enhanced travel experience. Both airlines are committed to ensuring seamless communication and support for customers during this transition, and FAQs are accessible on Vistara's website for guidance.
This integration is not simply about consolidating fleets; it is also about consolidating values and commitments to providing our customers with the best possible service, Kanaan added further.
Meanwhile, Air India CEO Campbell Wilson stressed the collaborative efforts to ensure seamless integration of service, employee, and customer care. Our teams are working closely to ensure that the transition is seamless and that our customers do not experience any disruptions to service, he said.
Air India-Vistara Merger First Announced In 2022
The Air India-Vistara merger, first announced in November 2022, will bring together the strengths of two major players in the aviation industry to create one of the world's biggest airline groups.
The union is viewed as a strategic move to strengthen Air India's position in the global aviation market by offering a wider network and enhanced service offerings.
Singapore Airlines to acquire 25.1% stake
As per reports, Singapore Airlines will acquire a 25.1 percent stake in the newly expanded Tata Group-owned Air India after the Indian government's approval. Vistara, which is presently a joint venture between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, will be merged with Air India, making the merger more difficult later this year.
The merger is expected to reshape India's aviation landscape, positioning Air India as a formidable player both domestically and internationally.
