Walmart Job Cut: Hundreds of corporate jobs are being cut at Walmart and most remote employees are being asked to return to the office, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday, citing people familiar with the matter. Meanwhile, workers at the US retail giant's smaller offices in Dallas, Atlanta, and Toronto are being asked to move to other central hubs, such as Walmart's corporate headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas, as well as Hoboken, New Jersey, or Southern California, the report said.
According to the report, Walmart will still allow employees to work remotely part-time, as long as they remain in the office for most of the time. Regulatory filings show Walmart employed about 2.1 million associates as of January 31, 2024.

The company has been taking steps to reduce its workforce over the past year and said in April of last year that it expects about 65% of its stores to be staffed by automation by the end of its fiscal year 2026.
In February 2023, it closed three of its US technology centers and asked hundreds of employees to relocate to keep their jobs, forcing more workers to commute to work from the office. Walmart did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.
