Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was quick enough to laud England's effort in the Ashes series against Australia as they managed to draw the series 2-2 after a thrilling win at The Oval on Monday.

Tendulkar said that England's passionate efforts in the enormous series were a tribute to the beauty of Test cricket and appreciated them for completely turning the result of the series on its head even after being 0-2 down after the first two Tests.

"From being 2-0 down to drawing level, England's tenacity in this #Ashes series is a tribute to the beauty of Test cricket. The ability to rebound demonstrates the depth of character and the mental fortitude this format demands. Mother Nature might have denied us a series result, but that didn’t dampen the spirit of this incredible game.

A series to remember for a long long time," Sachin who was seen active throughout the Ashes series wrote on Twitter.

On the other hand, Pat Cummins' Australia was looking like the favorites heading into the final day as it was their game to win and achieve the feat of a Test series win on English soil for the first time since 2001.

Tendulkar also congratulated England's star bowler Stuart Broad who retired from the game after the marquee series and played a vital role in helping his team to emerge as a better team towards the end of the series.

Broad was the man who threw the knockout punch, picking up the last two wickets of Todd Murphy and Alex Carey as he finished his Test career with 604 career wickets to his name.

"A phenomenal career draws to a close. @StuartBroad8, your relentless spells and unwavering dedication will forever be etched in cricket's annals. A fitting end to your career. Enjoy the next innings!" Sachin went on to congratulate Broad on his phenomenal career.

The series followed the result of 2019 as it remained 2-2 after a thrilling display of cricket throughout five matches with both teams putting up memorable performaces.
