Virat Kohli added another major milestone to his incredible ODI career on Sunday, September 27, as he became only the second batter in history to score 15,000 runs in the 50-over format.

Kohli needed 59 runs during India’s first ODI against West Indies to reach the landmark. He got there in style, bringing up the milestone in just 47 balls at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.

Only Sachin Tendulkar Ahead Of Kohli

Before Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar was the only player to cross the 15,000-run mark in ODI cricket.

Tendulkar finished his ODI career with 18,426 runs from 463 matches. The former India batter played ODI cricket between 1989 and 2012.

Kohli, meanwhile, reached 15,000 ODI runs in his 315th match, becoming the fastest player to reach the landmark.

The achievement adds another record to Kohli’s remarkable ODI career as he continues to rewrite India’s batting history.
