Asia Cup 2025: What the winning captains said after their respective matches on Monday
Sri Lanka skipper Charith Asalanka said, "The heart was in the mouth (at the end). Disappointed about a few things. First three overs in the bowling. Then with the bat, in the 16th over, we lost a few wickets, including mine. Consistently, these things can't happen even in the shorter formats. We are professionals and we have to do much better. Credit to them, they batted well. There is pressure playing against every side."
UAE captain Muhammad Waseem said, "(On the loss against India and comeback here) The past is the past and we wanted to show this calibre to everyone with the way we can play. Very happy with today, we prepared ourselves for three days and executed well as a batting and bowling unit. We wanted to attack in the power play and then bat deep. (On scoring 3000 runs) It is a very proud moment for me, my family and my country. I want to continue the same way."
