Asia Cup Trophy Controversy: ACC (Asian Cricket Council) and PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) chief Mohsin Naqvi has tendered an apology to the BCCI (Board of Cricket Control in India), as per a report by AajTak. The report stated that Naqvi expressed regret on the episode but insisted that the Asia Cup-winning side should take the trophy and medals from him only.
It is worth noting that Naqvi, who also serves as the Interior Minister (quivalent to Home Minister) in Pakistan Government, will be returning to Lahore today, October 1.
During the ACC meet on September 30, Naqvi reportedly maintained his rigid stance stating that the Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav should come to Dubai and collect the trophy. In response, the BCCI stated, "He didn’t collect the trophy when you were there in front of him, you think he will come now?"

What is the controversy about?
Team India played spectacular Cricket throughout the tournament to win the trophy. After being reduced to 20/3 at one stage against Pakistan in the final, middle-order batter Tilak Varma played the knock of his life to guide India home in front a packed crowd in Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
However, Team India demanded that it won't receive the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, who is known for his anti-India stance as he regularly makes it evident with his statements. Moreover, he is part of the Pakistan government who backed the terrorists who committed the Pahalgam terror attack which claimed the 26 lives.
In response to this attack, India orchestrated 'Operation Sindoor' targetting terrorists inside Pakistan, which later became a full-blown conflict. However, few days later, both countries agreed for a ceasefire after the Pakistan counterpart approached the Indian counterpart through a telephonic call.

During the post-match presentation, India's Kuldeep Yadav, Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma received their individual awards from other dignitaries on stage, while Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha accepted the runners-up cheque from Naqvi. The Indian players did not acknowledge him.
The ACC chairman did not applaud the Indian players who came up to receive their personal accolades.
