Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy: Before the start of the five-match series, there were questions around Shubman Gill's ability with the red ball. After being appointed as captain of the series, fans were skeptical whether Gill had what it takes to handle the rigours of test matches. There were several of his dismissals in previous games, where he was getting caught on the crease or getting bowled through the gap to an in-swinging delivery.
It is worth noting that the 25-year-old had no qualms in tackling bowlers in the white ball formats. On the contrary, he becomes a different player altogether when it comes to T20s and ODIs.
As per a report by timesofindia.com, Gill made some significant changes before the series to counter bowlers. The report stated that legendary batters Sachin Tendulkar, Steve Smith, and Kane Williamson offered unique perspectives that proved wonders for the Cricketer from Punjab.

What Did Sachin Tendulkar Say To Shubman Gill? The report elaborated that Gill was nervous before asking for advice from the master batter. However, Tendulkar, with his calm persona advised him to ensure his bat faced mid-off, which will make him send the ball towards square-leg instead of dragging the ball onto the stumps.
One of the greatest test batters to walk on the planet, Steve Smith, had asked Gill to work on the mental aspect. He advised the batter to keep working on his technique with shadow practice and build muscle memory in the process.
Kane Williamson, who has been a master of playing the ball close to his body, advised Gill to be patient for the first 45 minutes of his innings and not go for drives. The report further stated that Kane's advice helped Gill to play long innings.
