MI vs CSK IPL 2025: South Africa's upcoming talent Dewald Brewis had joined CSK for the ongoing season and the franchise was seen having a light-hearted banter with arch-rivals MI. CSK will lock horns with MI on Sunday.
The Chennai-based franchise took to their official X account and revealed Brevis' arrival by sharing his photo in their training jersey and Brevis was seen holding a small placard. They wrote a witty caption by using Wankhede as 'WankheDEN' and reminded them how Brevis would be making a comeback to this venue and not for MI but in yellow.

The MS Dhoni-led side brought Brevis after fast bowler Gurjapneet Singh had to pull out of IPL 2025 owing to an injury. He was unsold during the mega-auction last year but now has been roped in by the franchise for a whopping amount of Rs 2.2 crore.
Often known as 'Baby AB' since his playing style is quite similar to that of the legendary Ab De Villiers, Brevis had represented MI in 10 matches, seven during IPL 2022 and the remaining matches during the last season. Of these, he had scored 230 runs at a staggering strike rate of 133.72 but hasn't scored a half-century.
He would be entering this season on the back of his sublime form as he had represented Titans during the CSA 4-Day Series Division 1 tournament and had scored 573 runs after playing in 12 matches at a brilliant average of 47.75.
The franchise is hopeful that Brevis' addition will help them bounce back this season. They are lying at the last position in the points table after winning just two matches of the seven that they have played till now and this is mainly due to the inconsistent performances from their batters.
Brevis might bring some excitement to the team and strengthen their middle-order batting lineup in a high-scoring venue like the Wankhede Stadium. But considering his performances, he is not that experienced in the shortest format and the team management should be patient with him.
Brevis is CSK's second replacement for the ongoing season as they had already bought Mumbai's Ayush Mhatre as injured captain Ruturaj Gaikwad's replacement. Even though MS Dhoni would be leading the team from the front, their replacement strategy emphasizes their plans of grooming youngsters.
