Australian Men’s Cricket Team vs New Zealand National Cricket Team Match Scorecard: Incessant rain on Friday (October 3) forced an unfortunate washout of the second New Zealand-Australia T20 international at Mount Maunganui on Friday. It is worth noting that Australia have retained the bilateral Chappell-Hadlee Trophy.
Notably, Mitchell Marsh-led Australia won the first match by six wickets at the same venue on Wednesday.
The ground staff at Bay Oval did their best to conduct a nine-over per innings match after a delayed start. However, the match was abandoned after 2.1 overs at Bay Oval with Australia 16 for one.
The third and final match is also at Bay Oval on Saturday.

With the rain denying the hosts a chance to level the series, Australia extended their hold on the trophy to five years.
Australian captain Mitchell Marsh expressed disappointment after the washout. "Days like today are always difficult. We tried our best to get a game for the crowd. The weather won today. Hopefully, tomorrow is a good day. A trophy like the Chappell-Hadlee holds a lot of history for both teams. (On conditions in the first over) I was one of five in a nine-over game and never felt so much pressure in my whole career. It was nice to walk off, I was actually about to retire myself (laughs). (Asked if they were willing to put the trophy up and treat it as a one-off game tomorrow) We will go home, no worries (laughs)," Marsh said.
New Zealand captain Michael Bracewell hoped the weather would clear by tomorrow for the 3rd T20I.

"We wanted to play a game, but the weather didn't play ball tonight. We spoke about nailing the plans. Pleasing to see the improvement from a couple of days ago. You want to start well in a 3-match series, but had a disappointing start with the loss. You feel for the guys who miss out, and you want to give them opportunities to play. We thought this was the best chance for the conditions we will see what happens tomorrow. We made a few adjustments from the first to the second game. Every game is important for your country. We are very lucky to have such loyal fans. For people to brave the conditions here and come out to support us is great. Hopefully we will have some nice weather tomorrow," Bracewell said.
