Stuart Broad Doubles Down On Controversial ‘Worst Australian Side Since 2010’ Remark Post England's Ashes Defeat: ‘No Regret’

Australia vs England Ashes: Former England pacer Stuart Broad has stood firm on his pre-series assessment, reiterating that Australia's current team is the “worst since 2010”, despite their dominant 3-0 Ashes lead over England.

Broad had asserted that Australia's current team was the flimsiest since England's Ashes victory in 2010-11, disregarding his assessment as "not an opinion" but "a fact". Former England pacer noted Australia's transition and wavering around selection as the basis for his view.

Broad's comments have drawn attention from the Australian team, with Aussie star batter Marnus Labuschagne playfully mocking the England pacer's comments, saying it's "nice to be sitting 3-0 up."

Travis Head later added fuel to the fire by posting a photo of himself alongside captain Pat Cummins on social media, captioned "Is it 2010 yet?" followed by three laughing emojis.

Speaking following Australia's 82-run victory that gave the hosts an unassailable 3-0 series lead, Broad attributed England's beating to their failure to perform to their potential, stating they were "at 20 per cent of their ability".

"Do I regret saying that? No. I did say Australia would have to play very badly and England would have to play very well. Australia haven't played very badly, and England hasn't played very well," Broad said on his For The Love of Cricket podcast.

Broad highlighted Australia's susceptibilities, quoting Pat Cummins' absence from the first two Tests, Josh Hazlewood's unavailability, and Usman Khawaja's back spasms, which he acknowledged would give England an edge.

"From England's point of view, what would they have liked coming into this series? A lot of things have gone England's way. But England haven't been good enough ultimately. Australia have been relentless in what they've done," he added.

"Do I think the 2013-14 (Australian team) man-for-man was a better side? Yes, probably still. I don't think individually they are better than any other team since 2010-11, but they've been relentless in the pressure they've managed to put on England," a former England pacer said.
