Asia Cup 2025 Points Table: Bangladesh secured a tense four-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup Super Four stage, backed by spirited fifties from openers Saif Hassan and Towhid Hridoy.
Sri Lanka slammed 168 for seven, riding on Dasun Shanaka's strong 64 (37 balls), but Bangladesh found a perfect response in Saif (61, 45 balls) and Hridoy (58, 37 balls), ending up at 169/6 in 19.5 overs.
Earlier, Bangladesh bowlers were largely consistent with their line and length, but Shanaka's powerful fifty carried Lanka to a competitive 168 for seven.
Bangladesh's Player of the Match, Saif Hassan, highlighted that his team's batters had devised a "good plan" to tackle the Sri Lankan bowlers.
"The wicket was very good and I tried to time my shots. Litton (Das) was helping me and it was easy batting with him. He was supporting a lot, he was telling what the next ball would be. Very happy to contribute. The preparation was good, we had a good plan against their (Sri Lankan) bowlers and that worked," said Hassan after the four-wicket win.
