India-Bangladesh cricket ties are on shaky ground, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly put the scheduled 2026 tour on hold, following the release of Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad.

According to The Indian Express, the BCCI is now poised to escalate the matter to the Indian government, seeking official approval for the tour.

This comes after Kolkata Knight Riders released Rahman from their squad for the 2026 IPL following instructions from the BCCI due to recent developments.

KKR had acquired the services of the 30-year-old left-armer for Rs 9.20 crore from a base price of Rs 2 crore after an extreme bidding war with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the players' auction last month.

"The BCCI has asked Kolkata Knight Riders to release Mustafizur Rahman from its squad. They can ask for a replacement if needed. And upon request, BCCI will allow a replacement player," BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told PTI here on Saturday.
