Big Injury Update On Lungi Ngidi After Scary Head Collision Sends Him Off In Ambulance During DC vs PBKS Clash

Delhi Capitals fast bowler Lungi Ngidi is now stable and is expected to be discharged soon from a hospital in Delhi after a scary on-field injury during the IPL match against Punjab Kings on Saturday.

Ngidi was taken to Max Hospital, Pusa Road, after he fell awkwardly while trying to take a catch. He hit his head on the ground and was immediately rushed off the field in an ambulance as a precaution.

According to the IPL’s official update on X, the 30-year-old complained of headache and neck pain after the incident but his condition is now stable.

“Lungi Ngidi of Delhi Capitals hit his head on the ground while attempting to take a catch during his team’s match against Punjab Kings. He was shifted to the hospital in an ambulance as he complained of a headache and neck pain. Ngidi is stable and is due to be discharged shortly,” the IPL said.

How did Ngidi get injured?

The incident happened early in the game when Punjab opener Priyansh Arya mistimed a shot off Axar Patel. Ngidi ran in from the field and went for the catch, but misjudged the ball’s path. While jumping, he failed to grab it and landed heavily on his back, with the back of his head hitting the ground hard.

He was clearly in pain and immediately held his head as the medical team rushed onto the field with a stretcher.

Teammates Tristan Stubbs and David Miller quickly came over to check on him, along with Punjab Kings head coach Ricky Ponting and Delhi Capitals coach Hemang Badani, who looked concerned as the situation unfolded.

Ngidi was eventually stretchered off the field and taken in an ambulance to the hospital for further checks. Ngidi was later replaced by Sri Lankan all-rounder Dushmantha Chameera as a substitute fielder. After that, Vipraj Nigam was confirmed as a concussion sub.
