Cricket World Cup 2023: Here, There, Everywhere! Arun Jaitley Stadium witnessed something very special when Australian star Glenn Maxwell smashed bowlers all over the ground with his 360 degrees game. Maxwell played a blistering innings to shatter the record for the fastest century in the ODI World Cup.

The incredible feat occurred against the Netherlands in Delhi, where Maxwell reached his century in just 40 balls. The previous record was held by Aiden Markram, who achieved a century in 49 balls earlier in the World Cup against Sri Lanka on the same ground.

Maxwell's extraordinary performance allowed Australia to score 87 runs in the final five overs of their innings, as he delivered a one-man show. He hit a total of eight sixes, sending the ball to every corner of the ground and becoming the first Australian to reach a century in under 50 balls.

David Warner, earlier in the innings, scored his 22nd ODI hundred, marking his second consecutive century in the tournament. As a result, Australia posted an imposing total of 399 against the Netherlands.

Aiden Markram had previously mentioned that his record could be surpassed in the same tournament, and Maxwell proved him right by achieving the feat in just 40 balls. Maxwell's innings was a display of remarkable shot selection, including reverse sweeps and pulls, which left everyone in awe.

"I am not sure, the way batters are playing nowadays, you wouldn't be surprised if that record is broken in this competition as well. So it's nice for us to be able to go through the gears as a unit," Markram was quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
