Cricket World Cup 2023, IND vs ENG: During India's World Cup clash with England, Rohit Sharma reached another remarkable milestone. Making his India debut in 2007, Rohit had amassed an impressive total of 17,953 runs from 456 matches before India's World Cup match in Lucknow.
The right-handed batsman was on the brink of achieving the coveted 18,000-run mark, which he reached after scoring his 47th run, becoming the fifth Indian batsman to cross the monumental figure.
The list is led by the iconic Sachin Tendulkar, who concluded his illustrious career with a staggering 34,357 runs, making him the highest run-scorer in the history of international cricket.

Following Tendulkar among Indians is Virat Kohli, who recently notched up 26,000 runs in international cricket. The former India captain, Rahul Dravid, holds the third spot with 24,208 runs, while Sourav Ganguly, who retired with 18,575 runs, occupies the fourth position.

Rohit also became only the second Indian batter to reach the milestone of 1,000 runs in ODIs in 2023. He was just 31 runs short of the mark before the match. Shubman Gill had the distinction of being the first batter to score 1,000 runs in 2023.
Additionally, Rohit surpassed the legendary Tendulkar in the list of most runs by an Indian batter in all World Cup tournaments. Tendulkar accumulated a total of 2,278 runs from 45 matches, maintaining an impressive average of 56.95. Kohli holds the title of India's top run-scorer in World Cups, amassing 2,525 runs from 59 matches with an average of 63.12 and a strike-rate of 102.76.
Rohit's journey in international cricket has been a rollercoaster ride. Initially an irregular member of Team India from 2007 to 2013, he often found himself excluded from the squad due to inconsistent performances. It wasn't until 2013 when Rohit was asked to open for India in white-ball cricket that he finally cemented his place, and there has been no looking back for him since then.
In the current World Cup, Rohit Sharma has been in spectacular form. Rohit scored his 54th ODI fifty in the match against England. He currently holds the fourth position in the tournament's run-scorers list with 398 runs, outshining Virat Kohli, who recently faced disappointment with a duck, his first ever in ODI World Cup.
Rohit commenced the tournament with a duck against Australia but swiftly bounced back with a match-winning century against Afghanistan. He continued to impress with scores of 86, 48, and 46 against Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand, respectively.
