CSK IPL 2024 Match Schedule: In the opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, reigning champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 22.

Before the start of the much-anticipated clash of the tournament, CSK transferred the captaincy to opener Ruturaj Gaikwad in place of legendary wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni. In a statement, CSK said that Dhoni has 'handed over Chennai Super Kings’ captaincy to Gaikwad' without giving details on the former skipper's IPL future. 

As per the full schedule of the tournament which clashes with the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in the country, CSK will play 14 matches in the league stage. The five-time champions will face RCB, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings and Lucknow Super Giants twice while facing other teams once in the league round.

After the tournament opener against RCB, the Chennai-based franchise will host runners-up Gujarat Titans in a repeat of last year's final on March 26.

In the first away encounter of the season, CSK will face Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals in Visakhapatnam, a temporary home base for the franchise, on March 31.

In the next match, the yellow brigade will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on April 5.

Dhoni will hope to lead the side to the record-breaking sixth IPL title this season which is speculated to be his final edition. He has led CSK and now defunct Rising Pune Supergiants in 226 games combined and registered 133 wins including five titles in yellow jersey.
