Despite being one of the oldest and most successful franchise T20 leagues in the world, the IPL trophy has only seen six winners since the inception of the tournament in 2008.
Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad (previously Deccan Chargers), Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans have the honour of winning the IPL title so far.
MS Dhoni-led CSK and Mumbai Indians under Rohit Sharma's captaincy have lifted the title five times each. These two franchises share 10 IPL titles between them and are the two most successful sides in the cash-rich league.
However, some franchises are waiting to get their hands on the glittery golden IPL trophy. Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, Lucknow Super Giants and RCB are eluded from the IPL title.
Before the 2022 season, the IPL was played between eight teams but the addition of Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants in the league made it a 10-team affair.
Gujarat Titans won the title in their first season under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya which also led them to a runners-up finish in the next season.
