England vs India Tests: Ben Stokes bowled his heart out to snatch a famous win for England against India in the third Test at Lord's on Monday. England have now taken a 2-1 lead in the five-match Test series.

Stokes came up with a massive impact with an all-round performance and was adjudged as the Player of the Match. England produced a fighting effort with the ball on the final day and bowled India out for just 170 runs in the second innings while defending the 193-run target.

Stokes scored 44 runs and picked up two wickets in the first innings of the red-ball match played at the Home of Cricket, and amassed a total of 33 runs and three wickets in the second innings.

The POTM award at Lord’s helped Stokes enter his name in the record books. He became the first player in the world to win four POTM awards in Test matches played at Lord’s. Three players—Joe Root, Stuart Broad, and Glenn McGrath—have won three POTM awards each in Test matches played at the Home of Cricket, but Stokes is the first and only one to bag four POTM awards.

Overall, he has 11 POTM awards to his name in 114 Tests played so far for England. It was way back in 2015 when Stokes won his first POTM at Lord's in Test cricket. He scored 92 runs from 94 balls for the Alastair Cook-led side in the first innings of that match and hammered 101 runs from 92 balls in the second, in addition to taking three wickets for 38 runs in 11 overs.

His second POTM award at Lord’s was in 2017. In the match played from September 7 to 9 against the West Indies, Stokes picked up 6 wickets for 22 runs in 14.3 overs and hammered 60 runs from 74 balls to set up a nine-wicket win for Joe Root & Co.

In the 2019 Ashes Test played at Lord’s, Stokes scored 13 runs in the first innings and 115 not out in the second to bag the POTM award.

After winning the best player of the match award in England’s 22-run win over India, Stokes said, "I am an allrounder, I get four opportunities to influence the game, one of the great things of being an all-rounder is if one thing doesn’t quite click, then you have the other. I had bowled an important spell, and I was pretty pumped up."
