England's Qualification For T20 World Cup 2026: England's 30-run defeat against the West Indies has resulted in a significant loss in their net run-rate, apart from the crucial two points. The Harry Brook-led side now stands two spots behind Scotland and table toppers Windies after match number 15 of the T20 World Cup.
England will play their next two games against Scotland and Italy on February 14 and 16, respectively. If they secure a win in both games, they can earn six points at most.
Windies' Role:
West Indies are sitting in a more comfortable position as they remain unbeaten with their upcoming games scheduled against Associate nations - Nepal and Italy. However, Nepal carry a psychological edge over as they defeated Windies in a T20I series a while ago.
If they win both, the West Indies will finish with eight points.
Scotland's Role:
If England manage to secure a win against Scotland on Saturday and then Italy, the Scott Berrington-led side would not be able to surpass them in points. However, should England lose to Scotland and Scotland wins against Nepal, Scotland would move ahead of England. Nepal could play a crucial role in the group dynamics. Even though England triumphed over them previously, the narrow victory keeps Nepal in contention.
Nepal's Role:
Nepal is set to compete against Italy on Thursday, a match they are anticipated to win. A win against West Indies would elevate their points to four, and a subsequent victory over Scotland would bring their total to six, tying them with West Indies and England, assuming both defeat Italy and England wins against Scotland. Net Run Rate (NRR) would determine which team qualifies.
Following two closely contested matches, England will require significant victories in their last two games to stave off a late challenge.
