The World Cup fever has settled down after 46 days and 48 thrilling matches as Australia were crowned champions for the sixth time defeating hosts India by six wickets on Sunday. Rohit Sharma-led side came very close to ending their 10-year-long ICC title drought but Travis Head's electrifying 137 off 120 balls took away the match from them.

Head's knock awarded him the Player of the Match accolade in the title clash while India start batter Virat Kohli clinched the Player of the Tournament award.

Here are the top moments of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023:

Glenn Maxwell's blistering 201*

It was a tournament to remember for the Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. He started the tournament on a low but went on to hit the winning runs for his country. In the league stage match against Afghanistan in Delhi, Maxwell single-handedly powered his side to a fighting three-wicket win after losing seven wickets for 91 chasing 293. He played a knock of 201* off 128 balls laced with 10 sixes and 21 fours.

During his innings, he battled cramps and back spasms to stitch a 202-run match-winning partnership with Pat Cummins (12*).

Virat Kohli's 50th ODI ton

Virat Kohli enjoyed the purple patch since the start of the quadrennial event and remained in the key cog for Men in Blue. In the semifinal against New Zealand, he surpassed Legendary Sachin Tendulkar to become the first-ever batter to score 50 ODI tons. His 117 off 113 balls guided India to a massive 397 total at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Shreyas Iyer's century

In the same semifinal, Shreyas Iyer played a quickfire knock of 105 runs off 70 runs studded with eight sixes and four fours to help India accumulate 110 runs in the last 10 overs. His knock proved crucial for the side as New Zealand fell 70 runs short of the target to book a finals berth.

Mohammed Shami's seven-wicket haul

Shami emerged as the trump card for Rohit Sharma in the tournament. He has picked wickets for Men in Blue in the crunch situation and in the knockout encounter against New Zealand. It was Shami who removed Kane Williamson (69) and Tom Latham (0) in the same over to break the momentum in the chase. Most importantly Shami got hold of danger-looking Daryl Mitchell (134) to secure a win for India. He returned with the figures of 7/57 and became the first Indian bowler to clinch seven wickets in a World Cup match.
