India all-rounder Hardik Pandya's ankle injury will keep him out of the upcoming two matches against England and Sri Lanka in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. He is not expected to join the Indian squad in Lucknow for the clash against England on October 29.
As per the Indian Express report, Pandya has not started bowling at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru and will take more time to recover from the right ankle injury sustained during the match against Bangladesh in Pune. The medical team is constantly monitoring the all-rounder's progress.
Pandya is likely to join the Indian team in Mumbai or Kolkata, the report added.

The pace-bowling all-rounder missed the match against New Zealand in Dharamsala and was expected to join the Indian team squad in Lucknow for the clash against England. As India continued their winning streak in the competition, the team management did not want to fast-forward Pandya's inclusion in the side as he would be a great asset for Men in Blue in the knockout stage of the marquee tournament.
“Team India vice-captain Hardik Pandya sustained an injury to his left ankle while fielding on his own bowling during India’s match against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. The all-rounder was taken for scans and is advised rest. He will be under the constant supervision of the BCCI Medical Team,” BCCI had said in its statement.

In Pandya's absence, India made two changes in their playing 11 as they roped in Mohammed Shami and Suryakumar Yadav in place of Shardul Thakur.
Shami grabbed the opportunity with both hands as he claimed his second World Cup five-for in his first match of this edition. His 5-54 in 10 overs restricted New Zealand to 273/10.
In response, Virat Kohli's 95 studded with two sixes and eight fours coupled with Rohit Sharma's 46 and Ravindra Jadeja's unbeaten 39* handed India a comfortable four-wicket win in picturesque Dharamsala on Sunday.
India are at the top of the table with 10 points in five matches and remain the only team in the tournament to stay undefeated.
