ICC T20I Rankings: India's young leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi became the new No.1 bowler in the T20I rankings after the latest updates on Wednesday.

Bishnoi continues to impress everyone with his wicket-taking ability and got the reward for his promising performance in the recently concluded T20I series against Australia at home.

He ended up as the leading wicket-taker in the five-match series with nine wickets to his name at an average of 18.22 as India emerged victorious by 4-1.

The 23-year-old Bishnoi (699 points) surpassed Afghanistan star Rashid Khan (692) to grab the top spot with Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga standing in third place with 679 rating points.

Bishnoi, who was adjudged as the Player of the Series against Australia, is the only Indian in the top 10 rankings.

The Lucknow Super Giants star was ranked No.5 last week and he has taken a huge jump of five spots to dethrone the Afghanistan spin sensation.

He had 664 points but the heroics against Australia saw him earn 34 more points. Bishnoi, with 699 points, has seven more than Rashid Khan, who had held the top spot since March 2023.

Bishnoi made his T20I debut in February 2022 and has played 21 matches so far, taking 34 wickets.

The star leggie stands as one of the top contenders for a place in the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled to be played in June next year.

Bishnoi faces stiff competition from the likes of Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav for the highly competitive spinners' slots.

He also has been named in the Indian T20I squad for South Africa where they will be playing a three-match T20I series that begins on Sunday, December 10.

Suryakumar Yadav continues to be the No. 1 T20I batter, while Ruturaj Gaikwad stands in the seventh spot. Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan and South Africa’s Aiden Markram are in the second and third spots respectively.
