England needed just 35 runs to win with four wickets in hand. Siraj struck early to give India an early boost as he dismissed Jamie Smith and Jamie Overton in his first two overs of the day. Gus Atkinson played a few shots to put pressure back on the visitors. Prasidh Krishna got the better of Josh Tongue with a remarkable yorker, forcing the injured Chris Woakes to come out to bat.

Just when things seemed to be going England's way after India's couple of blunders on the field, Siraj removed Atkinson to take India over the line.

India's only wins in the series came at Edgbaston and the Kennington Oval, whereas they drew the Manchester Test on the back of a memorable fightback.

"Well done, @ShubmanGill and #TeamIndia, a blood and guts performance! 2–2 is a fitting scoreline for a gripping series. A fabulous advertisement for Test cricket. And @mdsirajofficial, you are a lionheart, mate! #ENGvIND #TestCricket @BCCI," the former India head coach lauded India and Siraj's match-winning efforts.

Here's how other former cricketers and experts reacted to India's thrilling win in the Oval Test and Siraj's heroic performance:

Indian skipper Shubman Gill, who led from the front in his first assignment as the Test skipper, lauded the contribution of the whole team and expressed happiness on being a part of an incredible series.

"Yeah, definitely. I think the way both teams played in the entire series, every day coming on day four, day five, never really knowing which team is going to win, really shows that both teams came up with their A-game and very happy to get over the line in this one.
