In a thrilling third T20I match against India in Guwahati, Australia's all-rounder Glenn Maxwell played a pivotal role, equaling records and securing a victory for the Baggy Greens. Maxwell's unbeaten 47-ball century not only helped Australia win the match but also equaled the record for the fastest ton by an Australian in men's T20Is, previously held by Aaron Finch and Josh Inglis in the same series.

Moreover, with this century, Maxwell also matched Rohit Sharma's record for the most centuries in men's T20Is, achieving his fourth hundred in the format. This remarkable performance by Maxwell showcased his ability to play crucial innings in challenging situations.

Maxwell's previous T20I century had come against India in Bengaluru in 2019 during another successful run-chase by Australia. In the recent match, he came to the crease during the final over of the powerplay, following a solid start by opener Travis Head. Maxwell's contribution became even more crucial after Marcus Stoinis's departure, and he delivered with flair.

Facing a challenging situation with Australia needing 95 runs off seven overs, Maxwell, who recently set the record for the fastest Cricket World Cup hundred, displayed his aggressive style. Consecutive sixes in Arshdeep's over set the tone for Australia's charge in the death overs.

Despite a dropped catch by Suryakumar Yadav, Maxwell continued to capitalize on the opportunity. The final two overs, bowled by Prasidh Krishna and Axar Patel, saw Maxwell taking charge, and Australia secured the victory by five wickets, keeping the series alive.
