IND vs AUS: India will face Australia for a three-match ODI series beginning on Sunday. After this series, both teams will also be playing a five-match T20I series.

The upcoming series will mark the start of a new transition in Indian cricket, as Shubman Gill was recently appointed as India's new ODI skipper. This decision surprised a lot of people since Rohit has helped the team win the 2025 Champions Trophy. Gill will be leading the team in this series, and Shreyas Iyer will be the vice-captain.

At the same time, star Indian batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be making a comeback to international cricket after seven months. They last played in the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand.

Ahead of this series, both these players are on the cusp of breaking multiple records.

Records Rohit Sharma can break:

1. 500th International Match

He is on the verge of featuring in his 500th international match. If he does play in just one match of this series, then he will be the 11th cricketer to have achieved this milestone. He will also become the fifth Indian batter to achieve this milestone and will be joining an elite list of Sachin Tendulkar (664), Virat Kohli (550), MS Dhoni (538), and Rahul Dravid (509).

2. 50th International century

He has smashed 49 international tons across formats. He needs to hit one more to achieve the feat of smashing 50 tons, which will help him join an elite list of batters. After playing in 499 matches after his debut in 2007, this series will give him a perfect chance to achieve this feat.

3. Most sixes in ODI history

He is known for his brilliant shots. He has hit 344 sixes in the 50-over format and is just one six from breaking Shahid Afridi's record of 251 sixes. If he can do that, then he will have the record of most sixes in this format.

4. 100 Sixes Against Australia

He is on the verge of being the first player to have smashed 100 sixes against Australia in the 50-over format. He needs to hit 12 more sixes to be able to do that.

5. Third-Highest Run-Getter for India in ODIs

After playing in 273 ODIs, he has smashed 11,168 runs. He needs to score 54 more runs to surpass Sourav Ganguly and become India's third-highest run-scorer, and will be just behind Kohli and Tendulkar.

6. 1000 ODI Runs in Australia

The ex-skipper has had a dream run in Australia as he has scored 990 runs till now. He now needs 10 more runs to be the first player to have smashed 1000 runs against them.

Records Virat Kohli can break:

1. Most centuries in a single format

Virat and Sachin have the record of hitting the most tons in this format, 51. Sachin achieved this milestone in the longest format, whereas Kohli did so in the 50-over format. If Kohli can smash more than one ton in this series, then he will break Tendulkar's record of hitting the most hundreds in this format.

2. Most runs against Australia in ODIs

He has scored 2451 runs against Australia in this format and is just behind Sachin. By performing consistently in this series, he can inch closer to Sachin's tally and dominate in Australia yet again.

3. Most fifties against Australia

He has smashed 15 fifties against Australia, and it's the same as Sachin. If he hits one more fifty, then he will surpass Sachin's tally and be the batter with the most fifties against Australia in this format.

4. 1500 ODI boundaries

He has hit 1325 fours and 152 sixes, and his overall tally is 1477 boundaries in this format. He needs to hit 23 more to achieve the milestone of 1500.
