India vs Australia T20I: India's bad luck at the toss continued with Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav losing another toss on Friday (October 31) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Notably, in all five matches (3 ODIs and 2 T20Is) played so far in the series, India have failed to win even a single toss.

In the much hyped ODI series in which Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli made their return to International Cricket, skipper Shubman Gill lost three out of three, creating an unwanted record. It was the 18th consecutive loss for India in the format.

Another stunning streak of toss losses has put India in a tight spot with 16 losses in a row. Notably, most of them came in the tenure of Suryakumar Yadav. Depicting his helplessness with humour, Suryakumar was spotted during a 'pooja thali' gesture, suggesting that the team might need to perform a 'ritual' to get rid of the omen.

On the other hand, Suryakumar's Australian counterpart Mitchell Marsh won his 19th toss. Interestingly, he has elected to bowl in all those games.

When broadcaster Ravi Shastri enquired about Suryakumar's reaction, the Indian captain said, “It is okay as long as you get what you want to do," he said. “We were looking to bat first. It looks good. We’ve seen the stats, out of 40 times, 21 times the team batting first has won. That is the brand of cricket we want to play, as soon as we start going in (going hard from the start). It starts with Abhishek, he has been setting the tone really well with Gill and then I’ve been taking over. Happy to be back in the middle where I belong. Shubman Gill knows how to score runs, with him you’ve to run hard between the wickets and it gets easier if we bat together for long," he added.

Australia Beat India By 4 Wickets

Despite hiccups in the 2nd T20I match, the Marsh-led Australian Cricket Team was able to complete a comfortable win by 4 wickets and 40 balls to spare. For his incredible bowling effort, Josh Hazlewood was adjudged the 'player of the match' award.
