New Delhi | Jagran Sports Desk: Team India on Sunday defeated Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs in the second Test held at Eden Gardens, Kolkata and register a 2-0 clean sweep in the two-match Test series. After resuming at the overnight score of 152/6, Bangladesh added just 43 runs before getting bowled out for 195 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim was the stand out player for the visitors, he scored 74 runs. For India, Umesh Yadav took a five-wicket haul while Ishant Sharma scalped four wickets.

Earlier on Saturday, India had declared at first innings total at 347/9 after gaining a lead of 241 runs. Skipper Kohli had struck his 26th Test century while Cheteswar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane score half-centuries. In the first innings, Bangladesh were bowled out for 106 runs after choosing to bat first. 

This is also the first instance that a team registered fourth consecutive win by an innings margin. India had earlier defeated Bangladesh by an innings and 130 runs in the first Test after managing to win over South Africa by an innings in the two-match Test series held in October.

Overall, it was the 11th Test victory for India by an innings difference. The hosts also became the first team to declare in seventh consecutive innings of a Test match.

As far as the series is concerned, this was the most number of wickets by Indian pacers in a home Test (19). It was the second instance in which spinners did not pick any wickets.

On Saturday, skipper Virat Kohli had scored his 70th international century and equalised with former Aussie captain Ricky Ponting in scoring 41 centuries as captain in almost half the number of matches as compared to him. With the win, Kohli also became the first captain to win seven consecutive Tests.
