IND vs PAK, 2024 T20 World Cup: India’s star wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant came up with a funny fan chant for Babar Azam ahead of the high-octane clash against Pakistan. It should be noted here that arch-nemesis India and Pakistan will play against each other in the 19th match of the 2024 T20 World Cup in New York on Sunday.

Just before the much-awaited match, a video of him said ‘Tel laga ke dabur ka, wicket girao Babar ka’. After saying this hysterical line, Pant couldn’t stop himself from laughing and talking about how passionate the fans of both the teams are and it is they who make these matches more exciting.

“I just want to say as a player, if we only look like a player then they’re also working hard for their country. There’s always some banter but it is interesting to see how the emotions of the fans come together as a country India or as a country Pakistan. The way fans start new narratives such as the one you said (laughs) “tel laga ke dabur ka wicket girao Babar ka”. So, these make cricket a lot more interesting,” Pant was quoted as saying on Aap Ki Adalat Show.

Pant made a comeback to the national side after almost 17 months and performed brilliantly in their tournament opener against the Paul Stirling-led side earlier this week. He started well both with the bat and gloves as he took a few catches and attempted a runout. He scored an unbeaten knock of 36 runs off 26 balls and helped the team chase down the target of 97 runs in 12.2 overs.

Rain expected to interrupt India vs Pakistan clash

Pant had a great start to the tournament, and he will aim to continue his heroics against the Men in Green. Just before the mouth-watering clash, the pitch in New York came under scrutiny due to its uneven bounce.

The ICC had acknowledged the issues surrounding the pitches for the remainder of the tournament. Besides the pitch, rain threat is also looming large for the high-octane clash. But the fans of both sides would be praying for a full 40-over match on Sunday.
