IND vs PAK: Shafali Verma Creates History Against Pakistan, Achieves Rare T20I Feat

Shafali Verma added another major milestone to her career during India’s Women’s Asia Cup 2026 match against Pakistan in Dubai on Saturday.

The India opener became the fastest player in women’s T20I cricket to reach 3,000 runs. She needed only seven runs before the match to reach the landmark and got there within the first two balls of India’s chase.

The 22-year-old reached the mark in just 2,182 balls, adding another record to her growing list of achievements.

Shafali Youngest to Reach 3,000 Runs

Shafali is also the youngest player to complete 3,000 runs in women’s T20Is.

She reached the milestone at the age of 22 years and 220 days, moving ahead of Ireland’s Gaby Lewis, who achieved the feat at 24 years and 347 days.

The list also includes UAE’s Esha Oza, India’s Smriti Mandhana and West Indies captain Hayley Matthews.

Shafali has now become only the 16th player in women’s T20I history to score 3,000 runs.

She is also the third Indian woman to reach the landmark, joining Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur.

Pakistan Bowled Out for Their Lowest T20I Score

Shafali’s personal achievement came after India’s bowlers produced a stunning performance with the ball.

Pakistan were dismissed for just 55 runs after being asked to bat first. It was their lowest-ever total in women’s T20Is.

Young spinners Shree Charani and Prema Rawat were the main architects of Pakistan’s collapse. Charani picked up 3/7, while Rawat finished with 3/9.

Shafali herself provided the first breakthrough, bowling Muneeba Ali for 13.

Charani then struck twice in the sixth over. She removed Gull Feroza for a duck before sending back Shawaal Zulfiqar for 14.

Pakistan were reduced to 29/3 and never managed to recover.

India Spinners Complete Pakistan’s Collapse

Pakistan slipped further to 32/4 before Rawat and Deepti Sharma added to their problems.

Deepti picked up two wickets for just five runs, while Pakistan lost their seventh wicket at 45.

The innings eventually ended at 55, comfortably below their previous lowest T20I score of 63. That total had come against India in Guangzhou during the 2012 Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup.

India Already Through to Semifinals

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana won the toss and decided to bat first in Dubai.

India came into the game on four points after winning their first two matches and had already secured their place in the semifinals.

Pakistan, meanwhile, were playing their second match of the tournament. They had two points after winning their opening game.
