IND vs PAK T20 World Cup 2026: India skipper Suryakumar Yadav has opened up as to whether they will shake hands with the Pakistan players on Sunday. "Wait for 24 hours, we are here to play cricket. Have good food and sleep”, he told reporters in the pre-match press conference.

The players of both the teams haven't been shaking hands afters the Asia Cup 2025, which happened after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack and the operation Sindoor, which was held by the Indian Army.

"On handshake—leave it for tomorrow. Sleep well tonight and see what happens," he added.

Much of the pre-match build-up to the India-Pakistan encounter has focused on boycotts, 'spirit,' and whether the captains would stick to the now-established norm of not shaking hands.

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha remained coy when asked if his team was ready to shake hands. "We will see tomorrow (Sunday)," Agha said at the pre-match press conference on Saturday.

Since the Asia Cup in September, the two countries have largely done away with the etiquette of pre- and post-match handshakes (which are not mandatory). India had started the trend at the Asia Cup toss before the first group game in Dubai.

What Agha emphasized, however, is that the game should be played in the right spirit. "Cricket should be played in the right spirit," he said. "My personal opinion may not matter, but cricket should be played the way it has always been meant to be played. It's up to them to decide what to do," he added.
