IND vs PAK World Cup 2025: India captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed her delight over her side's consecutive victory at the Women's ODI World Cup 2025, but acknowledged that Sunday's 88-run triumph over traditional rival Pakistan in Colombo had its edgy points, depicting the match as an "important game for all of us".

India's lower order once again demonstrated to be a saviour, similar to their opening game against Sri Lanka, assisting the team in posting a defendable total, courtesy of the brilliant bowling by the spin department.

India's innings was on the cusp of collapse at 203/7, but Richa Ghosh's explosive, unbeaten 35 off 20 balls staged a vital late surge to take her team to 247.

"To be honest, it wasn't an easy pitch to bat. We just wanted to bat longer and see how many runs we can get. When we played here in the tri-series [in May], the pitches were different. But with the rain over the last two days, there was a bit of a hold on the pitch. The key was to keep wickets in the end so that we could execute," Harmanpreet said in a post-match presentation.

Kranti Goud set the tone by taking vital early wickets, while Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana gained on the Pakistan batters' tendency to go large, claiming key scalps.

India's fielding performance was a letdown, with four dropped catches, including three off Pakistan's top-scorer Sidra Amin.

"We let ourselves down on the field, we got so many chances which we unfortunately dropped, but in the end, when you win, you feel happy. There are a lot of areas to work on, but right now I'm happy that we won this game. We just want to go with that momentum. We go back to India now, where we know how the pitches will play. Let's see what the best combination is that we can come up with and how we can improve day by day," the India skipper said.
