India pacer Deepak Chahar is in doubt for the upcoming three-match T20I series against South Africa due to a medical emergency in his family. He missed the fifth T20I against Australia in Bengaluru due to his father's poor health and remains doubtful for the African tour.

As per the fast bowler, he will not leave his father in this condition to travel abroad. Chahar wants to spend time with his father in this challenging phase of life.

"We got him to the hospital on time. Else, it could have been dangerous. His condition is better at the moment. People were asking, why I didn't play the final T20I against Australia. For me, my father is very important. He made me the player I am. I cannot leave him in this condition and couldn't go anywhere," Chahar told Sports Tak when asked about his absence from the 5th T20I.

Chahar said that he will only join the Indian squad in South Africa once his father comes 'out of danger'.

"That's why I am staying with my father and once he is out of danger, I will start my journey to South Africa. I have talked to Rahul (Dravid) sir and the selectors. Right now, my father's condition is better," the seamer revealed.

Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian T20I team departed for South Africa on Tuesday night from Bengaluru. Chahar was not part of the squad that took off for South Africa.
