IND vs SL: The Indian team's jubilant celebration behind the scenes (BTS) has provided fans with a glimpse into their journey to success in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023.

In their recent resounding victory over Sri Lanka, India left the field well before the scheduled closing time, winning by a massive 302-run margin. Throughout the tournament, India has exhibited exceptional performance in all three departments—batting, bowling, and fielding—complementing one another seamlessly.

In a recent BTS video shared by BCCI, the Indian dressing-room's Medal Ceremony became iconic when the legendary Sachin Tendulkar announced the recipient through a virtual video call. Amidst much speculation, he chose Shreyas Iyer as the best fielder of the match, surpassing Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja.

The Indian fielding coach, T Dilip, lauded the team for their unrelenting intensity on the field, especially after battling the scorching heat of Mumbai. He began by commending Vice-Captain KL Rahul for his outstanding catches, executed with precision on both the left and right sides.

Dilip then shifted his focus to Ravindra Jadeja, expressing his belief that Jadeja would excel in taking a catch that day, which he indeed did.

'He made it happen, well done,' the fielding coach said.

He also recognised Shreyas Iyer as the 'silent sniper' of the team, emphasising his consistent on-field presence, driven more by actions than words.

Reflecting on the ‘best fielder’ culture by the Indian team, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar recalled a similar moment from the 2003 World Cup when they played against South Africa. He said that the team had a chart before the tournament with the motto "I can, we can," and each player signed it as a commitment to give their 100% for the country and the team. Tendulkar noted that the current team's dedication to fielding mirrors that spirit.

KL Rahul, in a knightly gesture, presented Shreyas with the ‘Best Fielder’ medal, adding to the team's joyous celebrations.

This was the second time that Iyer has won the fielding medal. Earlier in the tournament, the Indian batter won the medal for his promising performance against New Zealand.
