Mohammed Shami bagged his second fifer in his third match of the tournament and became the highest wicket-taker for India in the ODI World Cups. He surpassed Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath's 44 wickets record.

Mohammed Shami's five-wicket haul coupled with Mohammed Siraj's three-wicket haul helped India to bundle out Sri Lanka for 55 in 19.4 overs. India seal semi-final spot with eight-match unbeaten streak in the tournament.

Shami has picked 44 wickets for India in the ODI World Cups, matching Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath's record. The speedster achieved the feat in his 14 matches. In the three matches of the tournament, Shami has so far clinched 13 wickets including four scales against Sri Lanka in this match.

Shami shatters Angelo Mathews' stumps to clinch his fourth wicket in his third over of the spell. Mathews falls after scoring 12 runs. Sri Lanka are still not over from their previous performance against India in the Asia Cup 2023 final.

This is becoming a test of time for Sri Lankan fielders in the hot and humid conditions of Mumbai. On the other hand, Shubman Gill has found another gear in his batting as he nears his first century. 

That was a good over from Chameera apart from the delivery in which he was smashed for a brilliant six by Shubman Gill. Eight runs came off that over.

Sri Lanka captain Kusal Mendis has won the toss and invited India to bat first.  

In their last encounter in the Asia Cup 2023 final at Colombo, Mohammed Siraj wreaked havoc with his 6-21 in seven overs to bundle out the hosts for 50 in 15.2 overs. India won the match by 10 wickets to lift their eighth continental title.

If the situation demands we play three spinners, we will play three spinners. A lot of skillsets can put a brake on the scoring rate in the middle overs. Our spinners have got so much skill in these conditions."

India are the only side to remain undefeated with seven successive wins in the tournament so far. With a win over Sri Lanka in Mumbai on Thursday will seal them a spot in the semifinal.
