“It was all about (for) Sammy, Rohit bhai’s daughter because our relation is really good,” said Varma after the match, which India lost by two wickets to go 2-0 down in the five-match series.
“I had said to her that whenever I will score a century or a fifty, I will do a celebration for her,” Varma added.
Varma was the top run-getter for India in the second match as well, having already been the same for his 39-run in the first match.
He improved further to get to his half-century and bailed his team out of trouble as he scored 51 runs in 41 balls in only his second international match.
Varma's effective innings helped India post a total of 152/7 in their 20 overs, but that didn't prove enough, as Nicholas Pooran's 67 off 40 balls ensured the West Indies crossed the target in 18.5 overs.
Varma, who plays for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL under Rohit, added that the India captain has been a "support system" for him.
"Of course, I will be talking to him (Rohit) because he has been a support system for me always. He said to enjoy the ga, how to play international cricket. It has really helped me," said the 20-year-old left-hander.
The20-year0old also had revealed the advice he got from skipper Hardik ahead of his debut and tried to follow it during the match.
"Yeah, it has been good. I was enjoying my game, during the IPL, preparing for India matches and all. I have enjoyed my game and it has given me good results."

"Yeah, when I was debuting, our captain, Hardik was saying the same thing. The way you were doing in the IPL, just to do that, and I followed," said Tilak.
The third match, which is also a must-win game for India to stay alive in the series, will be played on August 8.
