Despite lukewarm performance in the recently concluded World Cup 2023, Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav has been named captain for the five-match T20I series against Australia. Maharashtra batter and CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has been appointed his deputy for first three T20Is.

Notably, Shreyas Iyer will join the squad for the last two T20Is and will helm the responsibility of vice-captain. Check out the full announcement from BCCI here:

VVS Laxman is set to take on the role of head coach for the upcoming five-game series, which concludes in Bangalore on December 3.

The squad for this series closely mirrors the one that played in Ireland, with the notable exception of Jasprit Bumrah, who captained the team in that series but has been rested for the upcoming matches.

Prasidh Krishna, a member of the World Cup squad, is poised to participate in this series, while Hardik Pandya, who is currently recovering from an injury, has not been included in the squad. Pandya would have been the captain if he were available.

ODI captain Rohit Sharma and talismanic batter Virat Kohli has not been named in the squad as well.
