Rohit Sharma runs in IND vs AUS 2nd ODI: Rohit Sharma found his rhythm back with the bat during the second ODI match between India and Australia at the iconic Adelaide Oval on Thursday. He played a fighting knock of 73 runs in 79 balls on the back of seven fours and two sixes.

However, India ended up losing the three-match series as they went 0-2 down following a 2-wicket defeat in the second match. The series marked the return of veteran batters Rohit and Virat Kohli to international cricket after a long gap. Ahead of the Australia tour, their final appearance for India was the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against New Zealand in Dubai.

Having already retired from Test and T20I formats, huge focus remained on Rohit and Virat, considering their ODI future and availability for the World Cup 2027. After a disappointing outing in the first game in Perth, Rohit made it count in Adelaide, settling the speculations down a bit.

The former skipper Rohit struggled a lot early in his innings in Adelaide, but he fought back with a few attacking shots. He stitched a crucial partnership of 118 runs with Shreyas Iyer for the third wicket to bail the team out of early trouble. His effort helped India post a challenging total of 264/9 in their 50 overs after being put into bat first.

Rohit has been one of the biggest match-winners for India in the ODI format over the past few years. His career took a massive turn in 2013 for good when he started opening the innings. Having represented the national team in 275 ODI matches, Rohit has 11249 career runs to his name at an average of 48.7 on the back of 59 fifties and 32 centuries. During the match in Adelaide, Rohit became India's third top run-getter in ODI cricket, surpassing Sourav Ganguly in the elite list.
