India vs Australia 2nd ODI: Harshit Rana made the most of the opportunity after he was retained in India's playing XI for the second ODI match against Australia at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday. With an aim to bounce back in the three-match series, India fielded an unchanged lineup.
Harshit came up with an impressive effort with the bat to help India reach a challenging total of 264/9 in their 50 overs after being put into bat first. He came out to bat at No.9 for the Men in Blue and went on to play an impactful knock of 24 runs in 19 balls. He hammered three fours and added 37 runs for the ninth wicket with Arshdeep Singh, who made 13 runs from 14 balls.
The fighting effort from Rana earned him big praise from the Indian fans, who at the toss questioned his place in the playing XI.

Harshit has been at the receiving end of massive criticism over the past few months as he has been a regular for India across formats despite a few disappointing performances. Netizens even slammed the head coach Gautam Gambhir, making allegations of favouritism for the KKR pacer. Notably, Rana emerged as a promising name in KKR's title-winning campaign in IPL 2025 under the mentorship of Gambhir.

The ongoing match in Adelaide is a must-win fixture for the Men in Blue. A defeat in the second ODI will take Australia to a famous series win against a strong Indian team. The three-match series marked the return of veteran batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
For India, apart from Rana, Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer impressed with their batting. While Rohit scored 73 runs from 97 balls, Iyer added 61 runs from 77 balls to India’s total. The duo added 118 runs for the third wicket after Xavier Bartlett dismissed Gill and Kohli earlier in the game.
Rana, on the other hand, continued to create an impact in the match with the ball as well, and he took the massive wicket of Travis Head for 28 runs in the 13th over.
