India National Cricket Team vs England Cricket Team Match Scorecard

After Indian bowlers' carnage, Abhishek Sharma's brutal assault of 20-ball fifty powered hosts to 7 wickets victory against England in the first match of a five-match series here at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday.

With this 7 wickets victory with 43 balls to spare, India registered their biggest ever win in T20Is against England in terms of balls remaining. India overhauled the target with 43 balls to spare as they reached 133 for 3 in just 12.5 overs.

Chasing a target of 131 runs, Sanju Samson's explosive batting gave India a flying start as he unleashed a fierce attack on English pacer Gus Atkinson.

In the 2nd over, Samson hammered four boundaries and a six, amassing a total of 22 runs and leaving Atkinson struggling to contain the damage.

The rampage took out its full effect as Abhishek Sharma meteorically joined Samson, transforming the attacking mode on the English bowlers.

The domineering Abhishek started by taking the experienced Jofra Archer. Abhishek smoked a four and a six.

Archer struck a crucial blow in the fifth over, dismissing Samson with a cleverly directed short ball. Samson was caught off guard by an angled-in around-head height delivery as the pace of the ball hurried him into the shot. Positioned in the deep, Atkinson made a sharp move to his right and took a low catch to remove the India opener.

Archer struck twice in the same over, sending Ind an skipper back to the pavilion without scoring a single run, just moments after dismissing Sanju Samson.

Abhishek made England pay for a dropped catch as he hit five fours and eight sixes during his hurricane 34-ball innings. His opening partner Sanju Samson made 26 off 20 balls.
