IND vs NZ 2nd ODI: India's star batter KL Rahul celebrated in a similar manner after smashing a brilliant knock of 112 runs in the second ODI against New Zealand in Rajkot. He batted again at the No.5 position and helped the team bounce back after suffering a collapse. He had smashed 11 fours and one six in his knock.

Rahul came in to bat when the hosts were reeling at 118/4 as batters like Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and Virat Kohli fell cheaply. Rahul then helped the team bounce back by stitching a brilliant partnership with Ravindra Jadeja.

He built a brilliant partnership with Jadeja of 73 runs, but then Jadeja got out, and Rahul then built another partnership with Nitish Kumar Reddy. They stitched a partnership of 57 runs and helped the team post a respectable target.

Rahul held the innings from one end as both Nitish and Harshit Rana fell cheaply and brought his ton by smashing a six on the last ball of the 49th over. Post achieving this milestone, he removed his helmet and glove and celebrated with his daughter.

It's not the first time that he celebrated it like this, as he did the same in the first Test against the West Indies.

RAHUL MAKES A STATEMENT AT NO.5

After playing as an opener, Rahul is currently the team's finisher for the host, who bats at the No.5 position. Although his position in the team has been slammed, he has performed well at the No.5 and No.6 positions. During the series opener, he batted at the same position and repaid the faith of the selectors.

It was his third ton at this position, and his average now is 64.21, at a strike rate of 99.59. He has scored 1477 runs after playing in 33 matches at the No.5 position, and it was the first time that an Indian batter has smashed a ton in this format in Rajkot.
