Asia Cup 2025: India's star batter Tilak Varma, who helped the team win the Asia Cup title against arch-rivals Pakistan, has finally opened up about the controversial 'No trophy' celebration they did after winning the match, as he said that they were waiting for the trophy for an hour.
And when they didn't take the trophy from ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the chairman of PCB, he left the venue with the silverware, and that the Men in Blue just have the physical title.
“We were actually waiting at the ground for one hour. If you look at the TV visuals, you’ll see that I was lying on the ground. Arshdeep Singh was busy making reels. We were just waiting, thinking, ‘The trophy will come anytime now.’ But the trophy was nowhere to be found," Tilak was quoted as saying on Breakfast with Champions.

He also talked about the discussion they had amongst themselves and that most of them wanted to recreate their famous 2024 T20 World Cup celebration, and that too without the trophy.
“Arshdeep said, let’s create an atmosphere for the trophy. We’ll celebrate like we did after the T20 World Cup in 2024, just without the trophy. Abhishek Sharma and five or six others agreed, and we went ahead with it," he said.
It was the third time that they had defeated the Men in Green in the continental tournament.
“We were confident, but cricket is a funny game. If you have one bad day, it’s over. The way I played against Pakistan in the final, I can’t play like that every day," he concluded.
