IND vs SA 1st Test: The host got a huge injury blow on the second day of the ongoing Test match as skipper Shubman Gill was seen leaving the field as he had suffered a neck strain and thus his innings came to an end. Gill, who had come in to bat after Washington Sundar's wicket, was calm at the beginning. He was able to defend the first two balls in Simon Harmer's over and then played a sweep shot and hit a four towards square leg. It was a brilliant shot.
As he tried to play the sweep shot, Gill was seen struggling. He took his helmet off and was seen falling on the left side of his neck, and struggled with stiffness. He did stop for a while and then asked for the physio. Post a quick assessment, the team management chose not to take any risk with the skipper. The replacement batter came in, and Gill then walked back to the pavilion.
The fans who had welcomed him loudly became silent. But they soon got excited as Rishabh Pant was the new batter, who was playing in this format after the Oval Test against the Ben Stokes-led side.
There was a bit of chaos in the Indian dressing room as the team doctors were trying to analyse the situation. Gill immediately went inside the room for some treatment.

His short innings did affect the host chase as they tried to get going. After his dismissal, they were reeling at 79/2, and the next few overs became intense as the Men in Blue tried to bounce back after losing a wicket and their skipper getting injured.
