The Governing Council of the IPL had set November 15 as the deadline by which the teams will reveal their list of retained players and the players that they will let go for the next season.

Since the IPL 2026 auction will be held on 15th December in Abu Dhabi, all the teams will try to retain their preferred players and look out for potential trade deals. Since the deadline is just around the corner, here's everything you need to know about IPL 2026 retentions.

How many players can a team retain?

What are the IPL trade rules?

All the teams can trade players with others and can exchange players of the same value. When players of different values are traded, the final decision of retaining or releasing a player depends on the team.

Players can also be traded in all-cash deals, where a player is traded for money. A player's consent is important for any trade.
